Drug Education

Drug Education

We have just finished our first lesson plan. It is a 5th grade algebra lesson with a drug prevention theme called Meth Math. It contains visuals. Long term effects of meth are terrible and ruin the user’s teeth. I am getting comments from parents and teachers that pictures of meth math are too gross and ugly. They don’t want the children looking at something like this. We picked the least disturbing pictures for our lesson plan. And, I agree that the pictures are terrible and ugly. It is what it is! My response is that children learn about drugs one way or another. The game and lessons plans are teaching children a good way to learn about drugs. We believe that education and discussion about drugs will save at least one life. How do you want your children to learn about drugs?
